Broughshane, Co Antrim
BARN 1 is characterised by original stone structures, soft understated interiors, contemporary exteriors, and magnificent vistas overlooking Slemish.
This multi award–winning design is the perfect marriage of old versus new. Using the foundations and outerwalls of the old barn, all original openings have been retained on the ground floor, whilst on the top floor; traditional stone walls merge with new steel framework to create a living space which appears to float seamlessly above the original stone barn. The smooth copper perfectly complements the barn by spreading the warmth of the existing stone walls to the rest of the building.
At 110m2, this dwelling is the smallest of the three Copper Barns yet the skilful use of natural light combined with fluid, open spaces and dramatic exteriors have allowed for the creation of a spacious, modern home that lends itself beautifully to the landscape.
